Members of the consortium, partners, students, representatives of institutions and other guests… in total, more than 40 people linked to the Master MIM have gathered again in Barcelona for the 2nd Review Meeting of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) project.
On 29 and 30 November 2018, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) hosted the reunion to take stock of the experience gained, review the activities and analyse future perspectives. With these aims, in addition to the MIM coordinators and staff in each university, the meeting had the participation of professors, members of the Advisory Board, representatives of the associated partners, stakeholders, MIM alumni as well as external experts from both academia and industry.
During the two days, participants had an intense agenda organized around different panels and discussion groups, such as “New skills and new jobs in the Mediterranean region” or “Sharing research ideas”.
The MIM students of the 2017-2019 class were also invited to join the meeting. They travelled from Montpellier, where they have been attending the second year of the master’s degree, to provide their opinions, as well as to know partners, representatives of different organizations and students from previous intakes. The students also had the opportunity to visit an interactive exhibition called “No dejes a nadie atrás: el asilo y la Agenda 2030”, organized by the Spanish Committee of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (ACNUR España). Through devices of Virtual Reality, students had the opportunity to experience a simulation of fleeing a city in conflict and finding shelter in a refugee camp.
Dr. Teresa Paramio, Deputy Vice-Rector of International Relations of UAB, held the closing session of the Review Meeting. After her words, the conference “Journalisme et migration: pour une approche méditerranéenne” was given by the Algerian journalist Leila Beratto.
The closing ceremony was a tribute in memory of the professor Noureddine Harrami, recently deceased.
