Uri Ben-Eliezer

Uri Ben Eliezer is Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Haifa University. He is a political sociologist focusing on Israeli army and politics, peace and war in the Middle East, Israel’s civil society and democracy. Ben-Eliezer was a Post-Doctorate in the Jewish Studies Program at Stanford University in 1988-1989; a fellow in the Jewish Studies Program and the Jackson School of International Studies in University of Washington, Seattle, in 1990, and again in 1995; as well as a fellow in the Department of Sociology at Columbia University in 2002. Uri Ben-Eliezer is the author of the following books: The Making of Israeli Militarism (Indiana University Press, 1998); Old Conflict, New War, Israel in the Second Intifada (forthcoming), and co-authored of In the Name of Security (with Majid Al-Hag, 2002).
